When you visit an osteopath at tonika health, you might be seeking relief from pain and injury, addressing stress or problems with energy and sleep, or looking to prevent injuries and improve your posture.
Osteopaths use their extensive training in physiology, anatomy, pathology and osteopathic techniques to treat, manage and prevent problems relating to the musculoskeletal system and nervous system. Osteopaths focus on how the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue function smoothly as a whole. Our osteopath may also use a range of orthopaedic and neurological tests to find out what is going on in your body.
With your consent, your treatment will involve the osteopath using their hands to skilfully stretch and move your joints and spine, massage targeted areas of your body and stretch soft tissues such as muscles and tendons.
You’ll also receive a clear explanation along the way of how the osteopath is providing healing. Our clients have had great results from osteopathy for whiplash, sprains, strains, car accidents, falls, pain from poor posture, as well as low energy levels, trouble sleeping and stress and anxiety.
You do not need a referral by your doctor to see an osteopath but with osteopaths being primary healthcare practitioners, you can be referred to an osteopath by your doctor. Osteopathy is covered by most private health funds (please check your individual cover), by Medicare’s Chronic Disease Management (CDM) and by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
